Question to what drive i can buy to replace the one i have

Hello everyone. I have a Alienware Area 51m. Its using a Lite-on it, SOSW-852S. Now I was reading through these forums and saw A LOT of people have problems with these they seem to brake after awhile. Mine stopped reading CDs and now i got blue screen of death so i can’t reinstall windows :frowning: but it reads DvDs just fine. Anyhow I’m looking to know if anyone has any idea what drive i can buy that will fit in its place anything but lite-on it.I just want to replace this dvdr drive so i wont have anymore problems rather than trying to fix it etc… PLEASE! let me know which drive i should buy I’m looking to spend under $70 all of your help is much appreciated.

Any 5.25 half hight drive will fit in its place here is a link to

All brands of drives brake after a while it’s not just liteon drives that brake. :doh:

Before you give up on it. Try it in another pc and see if it works.
