Ok...Just purchased a Toshiba SD-R5372 16x Double Layer DVD+/-RW external firewire/usb 2.0 burner...I am using the firewire capabilities on my laptop where I am running Windows XP and an OEM version of nero 6.0.something...Its the version that came with the burner...Ok I also have a 50 pack of Ritek 8x dvd-r disks...and a 5 pack of fujifilm 4x discs...Ok so here is my problem..or at least i think its a problem...When i use Nero to burn a 1 to 1 copy of a disc that is 4gb...The nero program before the burn only gives me the choice of 2x and 4x..even though my burner supports 12x and the media is 8x (ritek)...the media has been confirmed to write at 8x..on my buddies Lacie drive..so i know the media can write at 8x...ok back to the issue...SO I am wondering what is populating the choice of either 2x or 4x? is it the disc or the drive?? so here is the next wierd part..so i choose 4x..thinking its better than my old drive of 2x...so it reads the disc at around 10mb a sec...which i am assuming is around 8x read...so thats good...well when it gets to the burn it says burning at 4x (5.5mb a sec) and it gives me a count down for when the burn will complete..and it says 13 mins...well after 13 mins..the burn is only at around 53% and finishes around 25 mins...now my old pioneer burner would take this same disc and write it at 2x and take the same amount of time...so im thinking its not writing at 4x..and i dont even have the choice of 8x...can someone help? Do i need to try new media...?? PLEASE!!!!Help!!!
