Question about DVD

hello every one…

I need to know what different between all this

DVD-RW

DVD +R

DVD-R

DVD +RW

DVD +R9

DVD-R DL

DVD+R DL

DVD+ and -= + is usually supported better on dvd burners, - more compatible with dvd players (settop) and are single layer.

DVD+RW and -RW are the same as above but can be burned multiple times. RW=re-writable.

DVD DL is dual-layer, more space to burn onto, but more expensive than single layer (price is coming down now).

DVD +9 is either dual layer or dual sided (can’t remember, and I have never actually seen a disc refered to as such).

thx jhtalisman

If your burner supports bisetting (also called booktyping) it will make +R discs compatible with more settop DVD players

correction: it will make +R discs read as DVD-ROM which MAY be more compatible in SOME standalone dvd players…

(doesn’t hurt to always keep it enabled though!)

also, DVD-9 is the same as dual layer (and DVD-5 is the same as single layer)
