Question about 1633s@1653s upgrading to CS0T from CS0R

I’m currently using CS0R cf/patched firmware. I also just recently upgraded my 1633s to a 1653s using the EEProm utility. Does it matter if I use
the Codeguys’ stock firmware and and patch it myself using Omnipatcher,

http://codeguys.rpc1.org/firmwares/dvdrw/stock/1653S.CS0T.stock.rar

or can I also use their patched and crossflashed version (since I’m probably going to do the same thing myself.

Am I correct in stating that the 1653s stock CS0T firmware on the Lite-On Taiwan site must be used as is (and can’t be patched), but now that I’ve upgraded my drive, I can use it if I wanted to?

I assume you are asking for a second opinion as I already answered all your questions.

I think you suggested I upgrade to CS0T, but I wasn’t aware that you answered the question about the difference between patching the stock myself and using Codeguy’s patched version. If you did I’m sorry.

In the meantime, I upgraded using the CS0T CF/patched/ledfix version, and here’s my first scan with MCC 004. Pretty good for a 1633s upgraded to 1653s, huh?

O.K. Once again.

You can use both. If you load the patched version in OmniPatcher, you can do additional patching if you want to. You cannot undo patching that is already done

As you make your drive a “real” 1653 now, you can flash the firmware from the LiteOn site as well. But because this firmware is scrambled, it cannot be loaded in OmniPatcher and therefore not be patched. But it is the same firmware

Thanks for so prompt a reply. I barely posted my response before you answered.
How did you like my scan, btw?

No problem, our posts just crossed.

That’s a scan I would be very happy with. I think you see why I advised you to try CS0T.
Wish you many happy results like this one.

Just coincidence, I was thinking about my answer, and I decided to do it all over. If you’re in doubt, you have the right to doublecheck. As I first joined the forums I was happy with the help I got too, and the knowledge I have now is all gathered here and in the DVDShrink-forum. See you around.
