What is the real truth on the quality question after decrypting a dvd for backup purposes? Is their any quality degradation before and after?

thanks in advance…

Ripping a disc with dvd decrypter will cause no degradation in quality, because it create a 1:1 copy of the DVD on hard disc.

What is exactly this “quality question” you are referring?

EDIT: Is it related to a specific software?

As geno888 said, we need more information to answer your question. If you’re doing a 1:1 backup on a DL disc, then there will be no quality loss at all. If you’re compressing with CloneDVD2, Recode, DVD Shrink, DVD-RB, etc, then yes, you will see quality loss. But the act of decrypting a DVD in and of itself does not affect quality at all.

that’s the answer I was after. I understand that compression will cause a quality loss, I was curious on the decryption only. thanks!
