PX-760A: Is high jitter normal?

G’day all,

I have finally been able to get my dirty hands on a couple of Plexto PX-760As. Initial results suggest that this drive is not able to produce a high-speed burn without sky-high levels of jitter. Is everyone else having the same problem?

Attached are scans of Verbatim 16X DVD+R (MCC 004 - Autostrategy off) and Verbatim 16X DVD-R (TYG03 - Autostretegy on), both written at 16X.

Not really.

Some drives don’t like the burns of other drives in some way or other. LiteOn drives like to show PIF-spikes when scanning Plextor burns. Benq drives in general seem to display high jitter to start with. Look here for an illustration of the above:

That’s funny, really. My DW1640 doesn’t report high jitter with my PX-716As with the same media. I’ll give it one more shot later and I’ll report back with the results.
