PX-708A not recognizing "MXL RG01"-media

Hi!

I have a bunch of DVD-R-media with Manufacturer ID “MXL RG01”. The problem is that the PX-708A (Firmware 1.06) does not recognize them at all. A Pioneer-writer recognized them correctly.
Has anyone tried this media on the PX-708A?

That’s odd. I use the MAXELL MXLRG02 with no problems. I haven’t upgraded to firmware 1.06 yet waiting to see what others have to say about it. There have been reports of fake MAXELL’s according to this website:

i have some of them but i guess that the ones i have are fake.
anyway…the drive stopped recognizing the media after firmware 1.03 so if you want to try to burn them try to use 1.03.

Hi!

I think you both are right, the media I have is most likely fake. I got some “Apple DVD-R 2x” today. They also have the “MXL RG01”-ID and they are recognized perfectly. So the PX-708A does not seem to have a general problem with this media.
I know that there exists fake MCC-media, but I did not know that there was also fake Maxell-media out there, so thanks for the hint!
I will use the fake-media on a different DVD-writer which has no problem with it.
Anyway, thanks for your help!
