These are very cheap 48x rated CD-Rs called:
Amkette 48x CD-R 80-min. (its an indian brand).

Burnt with my original LTR-48125S (FW- 1S01).

This is cool only 6 errors. This must be because of some scratches which were present on the blank.

I am providing these results from CDRs burned AT LEAST 2 years or so ago. They have been kept in CD Cases or CD Wallets
for the duration, and NO physical damage is on them. All CDs were burned with either a Ricoh 6200A (latest firmware), Ricoh
7040A (latest firmware), or Ricoh 7200A (latest firmware). Some tests are not quite the full capacity (74 or 80 min), but are relatively close. These results may be helpful to those who have stored media on these specific mediums and are woried about the CDRs data corruption.

Drive: LTR-52246S, 6S02, 700 MB image
This Disc is designed for CD-RW/COMBO Drive Only.
Disc Type, Material = CD-R, Phthalocyanine
ATIP Lead-in = 97m 32s 19f
Norminal Capacity = 702.83MB (79m 59s 72f)
Disc Manufacturer maybe = Prodisc
SMART-BURN Speed Limit = 52X

Sold as Memorex 48x.
This media will not burn all the way to 52x, at about 95%, (48x),
the drive slows to 40x for the remainder of the burn. Total burn time approx. 2:40.

There is an unreadable sector at about the point where the drive slowed in the burn. This disc failed file checks. This may be due to a bug in the 52246S drive, as this occurs on many media types when the burn speed is slowed due to SmartBurn intervention.

LTR-52246S, (6S0C) 700MB image file.
This Disc is designed for CD-RW/COMBO Drive Only.

Norminal Capacity = 702.82MB (79m 59s 71f)
Disc Manufacturer maybe = Prodisc
SMART-BURN Speed Limit = 52X

Sold as Memorex 52x
This ATIP is slightly different from the 48x Memorex/Prodisc.
I have gotten widely varrying results from this spindle of media. I discovered that the top 2 or so discs were badly scratched, but even after sorting those out, i still get variable results. I’ve burned about 15 of them, my LTR-40125W does not like them at all, and produces very high c1-c2 rates. My LTR-48125W also likes them less than the 52x, also produceing C2 errors.
Scans are at full speed in CD Dr.

Here’s the best of the tests:

Here’s what happened on several burns at 48x speed on the same drive:

I also saw a couple 48x burns with low error rates.
The best I can say about this media is that it is inconsistant. At best it seems to perform slightly better than the 48x Memorex/Prodisc, but at worst it is much worse. I would not recommend using it based on what I’ve seen so far, but perhaps it is just a bad batch.

Burned at 40x, read at 52x:

I had bought a spindle of these “Samsung” 40 X CD’s here in Guatemala City. They are apparently Prodisc. Are these seen anywhere in the U.S nowadays??..it seems that not many suppliers carry them? right or have I not looked close enough? I had purchased them from an Asian (Korean i believe) run store, who had TONS of them, had the idea they were maybe intended for a Euro/Asian consumer market only??

As far as I can remember (the discs haven’t got a rating on it was just on the shrink wrap round the spindle) these discs are 24x rated.
