LG GSA-H62L (DL00), 4488 MB
Burned @ 16x with CD-DVD Speed
MID: ProdiscF02

Sold as “Maxell 16x DVD-R” in 10-pc. slim jewel cases

This disc, as well as a disc with the same MID (but from a more common 50-pc. spindle pack) burned at the same speed, illustrates that buying blank discs in individual jewel cases doesn’t always guarantee better-quality media.

LG GSA-H62L (DL00), 4488 MB
Burned @ 16x with CD-DVD Speed
MID: ProdiscF02

Sold as “Maxell 16x DVD-R” in 50-pc. spindle

This disc illustrates why the spindle pack(s) are better buys than jewel-case packs when buying blank media: The spindle-pack disc showed fewer total errors and lower overall jitter than the disc packed in a jewel case.

Optiarc AD-7200S (1.09BT), 4480MB burned at 8x
Sold as “Victor INKJET LABEL DVD-R with CPRM 120min 1-8x VD-R120CP” (text on disc edge) in 100pk cellowrapped
MID: ProdiscS05

I haven’t seen S05 scans here at CDF, so I thought I’d post some scans. Not the prettiest scans you’ll ever see. And the disc is labelled 1-8x while it clearly is capable of 16x - dunno if it’s binned lower due to its lower quality or due to the “intended use” of the disc (for DVD Recorders). Not happy with the result though. :frowning: PIFs were under 200 until that ugly crag at 4.1GB. :Z

Optiarc AD-7200S (1.09BT), 4480MB burned at 12x
Sold as “Victor INKJET LABEL DVD-R with CPRM 120min 1-8x VD-R120CP” (text on disc edge) in 100pk cellowrapped
MID: ProdiscS05

Here’s the same image burned before, only done at 12x. Pretty inconsistent media IMHO. I actually had high hopes for this disc since the PIFs were below 50 before 1.5GB, but the scan shows it all - it’s not catastrophic, but… oh well. :frowning:

Optiarc AD-7200S (1.09BT), 4395MB burned at 16x
Sold as “Victor INKJET LABEL DVD-R with CPRM 120min 1-8x VD-R120CP” (text on disc edge) in 100pk cellowrapped
MID: ProdiscS05

This disc looks more promising, although the PIEs are way up there. Still not happy with the consistency of the discs in this batch though.
