Yamaha 20x/10x/40x CD-RW With SafeBurn Review

Ian used our newssubmit to tell us about his new review:

As a writer it impressed me. Not as much for it's writing speeds but for it's SafeBurn technology. The Optimum Write Speed Control is great for those of us that want to pop in a CD-R and not worry what it was rated at. Yamaha' drive will detect the media's optimal speed and write at that, guaranteeing your data will be readable when your writing session is over. While we did have a few problems with Optimum Write Speed Control and some media, this should be fixed in the next firmware revision. I'm not too worried about it. Yamaha is continuously tweaking their drives. The other thing that impressed me was the drives coaster protection. Combined with the 8mb buffer, this drive is an excellent choice for mastering audio and data CD's. If that huge buffer does empty for some reason, the gaps created by the coaster protection are extremely small. How small? Over 40x smaller than the first generation of BURN-Proof drives.
