Yesterday I bought recorder: Liteon DH-20A4H. It comes with Nero7 Essentials. I had trouble with LightScribe - there were errors even when I tried to burn a disc. But I resolved it by installing additional driver from LightScribe site.
I had also problem with using DVD-RAM (Panasonic). I disovered that it has to be first erased with Nero to be possible to format it by Windows Explorer (XP SP1). I had to off the recording capabilities of Windows to be possible copy files to that disk. In Explorer: select DVD recorder, right click and choose Properties, and there last panel.
- Currently DVD-RAM works but there is a problem with small recording speed. I make two tests:
a) one file, 482MB, it was copied by 900 seconds, it equals to 535 kB/s
b) 2124 files, 523 folders, 12,9MB (all), they were copied by 1500s, it equals to 9 kB/s (!).
There is no problem with reading disc.
a) about 2 minuts,
b) about 30 seconds,
Where is a problem? DVD-RAM is certified to 3x speed. The files should be copied much quicker.
- Other problem with DVD+RW. I read somewhere that it is possible to use it like a removable disc (similar to DVD-RAM). But there is no possibility to format disc in Explorer. It shows a window with information that the disk is guarded aganist saving.
Is it really the truth that DVD+RW can be used in this way on Windows XP SP1 without additonal software like InCD?
