Where is the CDRW located in the case? Does it have good airflow. I have a TDK with burnproof that gave buffer runs when located in the top bay.
You can also try making the CDRW master on Secondary IDE and CDROM Primary Slave.

I would also add at least 64MB of RAM.

AMD XP 1700+, MSI K7T266 Pro2 (Via 266A chipset)
256 MB Samsung PC2100 CAS2.5 Asus 7100 Geforce 2 MX
Soundblaster Live X-Gamer, Lite-On 16x DVD
Acer 8x4x32x CDRW, IBM GXP 40GB 7200rpm
Linksys LNE100Tx NIC, Antec 300W Power Supply
MS IntelliMouse Mouse USB, MS IntelliType Pro USB
Windows XP, Linksys BEFSR41 Router

3 other networked: PIII 550E @ 733, Duron 800 @ 900, PII 450

Defenitely put your writer on the 2nd master.

The cdrom is on top bay and the CDRW is right under it.
Also i have changed the CDRW to secondary master and cdrom to secondary slave.

I haven’t tried burning anything yet

THe Burner is working better with firmwire update. The buffer runs from a 100% to 85%. Do you know any good Burning programs?
