Problems with Nero

Hi,

Ive just reinstalled Windows XP on my system and now the cd-rewriter doesnt work :frowning:

I installed nero 5.5 and updated it with the latest version, then I go to burn some files from my HD, it starts to burn but then gets stuck at 6% and says there was an error or something similar
Windows XP 5.1.

I then tried Feurio and it says that ive got no cd re-writer :frowning: , all of this was working perfectly before the install (although I hadnt installed Feurio before, but Nero was fine)

Any ideas how to sort it all out?

Cheers Matt

CD-rewriter = Lite-on LTR-40125W

The logfile says “medium error” so try some other media.

Thing is I was using the same medium before and it worked perfectly, also I tried the simulation and it also stuck at 6%, and I know the files are okay as I transferred them to another system on my network and burnt them with the same cd -rewriter, type of cdr and same nero

Just upgraded to WS09 firmware and still have the same problems, here are the results from the simulation.

Matt

For Feurio maybe you forgot to reinstall the driver update.
You need it in order to detect the LiteOn 40x.

http://www.feurio.de/English/Download/download_driverupdate.shtml

But it should have the same problems as Nero.
It’s a hardware problem probably.
For Feurio you can try to write using ASPIs or DeviceIOControl.
First, try the default DeviceIOControl mode and then try installing ASPI 4.60 (4.70 won’t work with Feurio) and try ASPI mode.

The settings are in Feurio CD-Writer -> Program Parameters -> Access mode

The settings are in Feurio CD-Writer -> Program Parameters -> Access mode [/B]

It recognises it now

Trouble is it says “Error when reading directory of drive” in the copy source box.

Do your reckon I have a faulty CDRW?, strange seeing how it was working before reinstall.

Matt

Do your reckon I have a faulty CDRW?
I would use some more media before i reached to such a conclusion. Fixation errors are usually media based, and sometimes the same media can have differences / faults even if in the same spindle.

Yes, you should try more media.
Also it’s normal that CD-Manager says “Error when reading directory of drive” if you have a new CDR in the drive… because it can’t read CDRs without being written.
Put a written CD in the drive and the list of tracks should appear in the Source box.

For CD-Manager (reading) you also can choose between ASPI and DeviceIOControl modes in Program Parameters -> Program Parameters.

But you shlould try to burn in the Feurio CD-Writer, and see the message.
To burn just drag and drop a couple of MP3 files and press “Burn”.

With DeviceIOControl it should work well, so it’s a problem of the writer or media compatibility.

MATTYP have you found any solution to this problem yet?

It turns out I have started to get this problem too after a re-install of my System. Burning on INTENSO 80min (same as before).

Hi,

In the end it was my cd-rewriter, got it replaced and all was fine

Matt

F*ck! :frowning:

I will try the burner in another machine and see what happends…
Even simulation fails, gives “Communication failure”.

I have checked my ASPI-layers and it reports version 4.70 exept for WINASPI.DLL and WOWPOST.EXE wich has been replaced with version 4.60.

ASPICHK version 1.0.0.6 says ASPI is not correctly installed
running version 2.0.0.0 says it IS correctly installed

Will I be able to flash the burner back to original 32x firmware if there is a HW failure?

NEW lite-on 52x24x52x, clean install… same problem!!!
What is wrong??? Must try another cable but I mean I did the complete XP installation using the new drive???

This thing really freaks me out now!

Well, finally problem seems to be resolved… looks like it was some kind of problem with the cable in the end.

I guess I have to CD-burners now!
