ok dma was already set so you guys got any other ideas of whats wrong

#4

@ Crankmonkey
To be sure you did what is needed, your ‘current transfer mode’ should be ‘ultra dma mode 2’. Your HDD should be set to ‘UDMA4’(‘ultra dma mode 4’). This is listed in the window under the “transfer rate = dma if available” window in device manager. If it is not, then let us know.
Beyond that, make sure your HDD is defragged with at least 5+GB free continuous space free. Also, see and that you are not surfing and no programs open during ripping or burning. If your computer is sluggish, the you might benefit from running a spybot program like ‘ad-aware’ or ‘spybot-search and destroy’. They are free, just google. Let us know if that helps.

The MS0K firmware does not support TYG02 media, so it is burned with the default strategy and speed. To add it follow the link in my signature. You have to extract the firmware from the drive with ltnfw and patch the firmware with MCSE and flash the patched firmware.
:cop: This will void your warranty.

ok ill try ur way ala42 and ill let u know what happens

#7

@ ala42
wow…nice catch! I never would have guessed that TYG02 wasn’t included in a firmware

#8

1x burn speed was too slow to be a DMA problem, even PIO mode is faster

ok so i did ur way ala42 and it till gives me coasters. i thihnk ill have to call up my vendor or whatever they are and see if a can get a new one or something
