[qanda]This thread is about the Philips DVD8701. Click here to see full specs[/qanda]I just built a new computer and I used the Philips IDE DVD drive from my previous Dell computer. For some reason though, the drive is having some issues. It can read CDs and DVDs fine, but it’s having issues when it comes to writing. I’ve been trying to burn some ISOs, but the burns are failing on Magic ISO, PowerISO, AND UltraISO. I’m not having luck with any of the programs, and I’ve even done a fresh XP install. I’m not having luck with burning from Windows explorer either. The drive was working fine in my Dell about 2 days ago. I’ve noticed that in PowerISO, the media shows up as a CD_RW instead of a DVD+R. I tried flashing to the BenQ 1640 firmware, but it still won’t work. DMA is selected.
I’m stuck. Can anyone help me out?
