Problems with my new videocard! Please help!

Today I bought a videocard, NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200.
Now it is so that after installing this videocard none of my new games, like SpellForce or URU will play. The videocard I had before (Radeon 7000) was fuzzy but the games works…
I don’t know what the problem is…
This is my system:
P4 2,4 GHz
512 MB of RAM
80 GB Harddisk Maxtor
Motherboard: ASUS P4B533
OS: Windows XP Pro

Hope you can help me…

Janette

Hi there.

Did you install DX.9.0b ?
Or SP1A ?
Or Nforce drivers ? (only if that has a nforce chipset if not then VIA ?

Persionaly i would never ever have bought that CARD…
the 5200 FX series are crap…
in DX 9.0+ games the NVIDIA 2.0 precition is shoddy at best.

you would have been better getting a ATI card
something in the same line perhaps with a bigger better punch for price vs performance ratio.

say the 9500 ATI or if your going for the best in the mid range then 9600 Pro or if you can better it a 9600 XT card.

just my 2 cents.

Possibly also reinstall nvidia drivers ?

hope this helps…

I’ve installed DirectX 9.0b and all new drivers for my GeForce and
motherboard.

Today I’ve heard that probable DirectX 9.0b is the problem.

Is there a possibility to uninstall DirectX without messing around in the registry and install a lower version of DirectX?

download Nvidia’s new 52.16 Forceware drivers.
they work great and they give the FX cards a huge boost in performance.
or if you already have just try to re-install them.
also make sure that your old ATI drivers are completely un-installed aswell.
i agree with ViRuS2k about the 5200 cards, the 5600 series and higher would have been a better bet.

I will re-install the drivers.
If that doesn’t work then maybe I should think about another videocard and return this one.

Thanks to all for your effort:)

I agree with returning that card for an ATI. Also If you decide to use that card you really need to clean the registry of all ATI drivers and other registry entries. Likewise if you do return it for an ATI remove all nvid drivers and registry entries.

I shall remove everything in the registry from my formal videocard.
I hope it works, because now I’ve had it with my new videocard.
I spent this whole weekend to get my games to work and that is no fun.

Thanks again:)

Guys, you are great.
Cleaning the registry did the trick:D
My games are working again.

Thanks for your support:bow:
