Problems with LiteOn DVDRW SOHW 1673s

Hi,

I have been browsing around your site for some information on a problem I have with my newly bought DVD burner. I am running Nero Express (patched to the latest version 6.6.0.13) and the firmware of my DVD-RW drive is also up to date (ver. JS05, I think).

So… I tried burning a data DVD with Nero… to no avail. It gives me a writing error. It seems that the DVD doesn’t even get touched, since it comes out still empty. I have 12 GB free disk space, 2,5 GB ram… no other applications running while burning. Still, it won’t write the files on the DVD.

At first, I used cheapo Legacy DVD-R… then I tried it with the (recommended in the DVD drive manual) expensive Maxell DVD-Rs. Still the same error. The settings of Nero are normal, no multisession etc. Still won’t do anything. I have run Registry Checker and DriveCleaner… no results either. HD is fully defragged (last night). Here is the error log. Maybe someone can make some sense out of it:

PS:

I have run the Ahead RegistryChecker and restarted the computer.

Now it doesn’t even find an empty disc in the DVD-RW drive anymore…

Btw, it is set as secondary slave (jumpers are correct)

#4

Sounds a lot like a failure at lead-in. Does this happen with +R? If so, you may have a defective unit…

Your LTN526 is set to PIO. Check BIOS to ensure it is set to UDMA 2 and NOT PIO. Also try removing the LTN526 and do a burn on the 1673. Have you also tried burning with another program such as DVD Decrypter or CloneDVD?
