I have been having some trouble getting my cd/dvd drive to respond on my new HP dv6000. I need to find out if the issue is hardware or softeware related and at this point I am a little stumped. The drive no longer reads any blank (burned) media and as of yesterday it stopped reading any cd’s. But, the drive will still read DVD’s without any trouble. Anyone have any advice?
Sounds like a dying drive. Ask for a replacement.
You may clean the drive, it is a hope.
So, just to clarify a bit, their is very little chance that this could be a software problem, or a driver error? - just hoping -
Try also booting with an CD and DVD.
