I have a new Sony Vaio laptop with Vista. I also have the hard drive from my now-dead previous computer, and I'm using a Hiyatek USB 2.0 external reader.
When I try to transfer files from my old hard drive onto the new computer, though, nothing works. It won't let me transfer because the files are protected or something, and it says I don't have permission to transfer, even after I choose the option "provide administrator permission" to the file. I AM my computer's administrator, and I was the admin on the old one, as well.
Any idea what's going wrong or how to fix it? Much appreciated.
