Hello! I'm trying to find help to get my recorder hooked up. I bought an Insignia DVD/VHS recorder several months ago...had to take it back because the drawer stuck on the dvd player. When I got it back, I hooked it up again and it played fine for a short time. Then, I began having problems with my television picture...it almost seemed that the player interfered with the reception. I could unhook the recorder and the picture was fine but, when I hooked it up, there was static. Next, the dvds all started playing in Black & White. Another trip back to the shop. I just got it back tonight and am having problems hooking it back up. Of course, I can't find the manual either!
Anyway, I've got it hooked up and think it's all correct but the picture (when I play a dvd) is all wonky. It looks like I remember televisions looking 30 years ago. The picture is slanted with lines running through it. Does this make sense to anyone??? Got any ideas what I may have done wrong? I know it WILL play correctly 'cause we tested it at the shop before I brought it home.
If it helps, I've got my cable connection running to the recorder with red, white & yellow cables going from the recorder to my cable converter box. I also purchased the higher quality cables (red, blue & green) that were recommended when I bought the recorder. These are going to the television from the recorder. My television has 3 AUX settings and I switch it to AUX 2 to play dvds. The one odd thing I've noticed is that, if I turn this recorder on without turning the TV to AUX 2, it "takes over" channel 4 which is the channel that I watch cable on. The dvd doesn't appear on this station, it just gets really staticky. My other dvd player doesn't interfere with this station at all if I happen to switch the player on before I switch to AUX 2.
This probably doesn't make a lot of sense but I'm tired, frustrated & DESPERATE! If you've got any ideas, I'd appreciate hearing from you!
