I recently received a DVD containing hi resolution images from my wedding photographer. My wife had to sign a disclaimer stating that the photographer would only supply one copy of the photo files. The photographer suggested that the first thing we do with the DVD should be copying all of the files to the HDD on our PC or making a copy. I do not have a DVD burner (yet), so I decided to copy the images to my hard drive. However, when I tried to copy the files I got this error: Cannot Copy filename.jpg: Data Error (cyclic redundancy check). What does this mean? Is it a bad burn? If yes, what can I tell the photographer so she will provide us with another disc? Or, is there a problem with my drive?
Thanks in advance.
Hello... the dvd have some errors on it... try cleaning it or reading it on another pc...
Check for scratches or smudges on the disc.
If that fails, try a different drive.
If THAT fails, yeah it's a bad burn - just tell them that the disc has CRC errors and you'll happily exchange it for a non-defective one.
The disc is scratch, dust, and fingerprint free....and I tried it in two drives...
I got all files copied...I think the drive was overheating. I copied about 50 pics, then it would fail. I would let the drive cool and try again and it would copy about 50 more...finally got all 763!!!
