Problems burning with my Plextor 716A

Alright, so I have a Plextor 716A DVD burner that has worked great for me for a couple of years, but lately it’s started acting weird.

For some reason it won’t burn cd’s at all anymore and it will only burn to Verbatim DVD-R’s, no other brand.

I have a spindle of blank Sony DVD-R’s that I’m trying to use, but with no luck. I keep getting a “Power Calibration Error” when trying to burn.

Below is they log file from my last burn attempt and I also attached a picture of it too.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated.

Welcome to CDF!

One reason for “power calibration error” is that the laser power weakens over time. Also dust/dirt may have accumulated on the optics, which also adds to the problem. So if this problem occurs a drive may be restored to working condition by cleaning the lasers lens.
