Problems burning with Cyberdrive DX162D-A. Anyone have 170F firmware?

I’ve had this drive for a year or two now and it’s always worked pretty well in the past. Recently I haven’t been able to get a single DVD to burn. CD’s still burn great. I upgraded the firmware to 140F, but apparently there is also a 170F out there. Can’t seem to find it available for download anywhere though. Do you think it will even make any difference or does it sound like the drive is dead? Here’s a log file from Nero if it helps any. Thanks a bunch for any help.

I Also need this firware update, help would be apprecated…

sidenote, switched this drive between PC’s and now it wont eject unless i give it some help by putting a pin in the eject hole, then the motor takes over and pushes the tray fully out…

UNLESS there is a disc in the drive, then it ejects just fine when i hit the button

ever heard of this?

Not sure what to do about your drawer not working properly darien989 (am still fairly new to this)…but I have found a firmware update that worked for my Cyberdrive DX162D-A. I haven’t used all the features to see if they are all still working but i have made a few good quality disc’s since the firmware update. http://www.dse.co.nz/cgi-bin/dse.filereader?4580e81302e7c930273fc0a87f3306e2+EN/catalogs/SUPXH4140 Hope it helps.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How do I reset the Zone information on XH4140?

A. Follow the steps below to reset the Zone info:

 1. Press the Eject Tray button on XH4140.
 2. The tray will come out. Hold the tray to prevent it from retracting then press and hold the eject button for 6 seconds.
 3. The tray LED light will blink for few seconds. The DX162D region block code should now be reset.

To the original poster, if the burner burns CDs fine but not DVDs, that tells me there’s a good chance that the ruby red laser that does DVD burning has failed. DVD drives have two lasers, one for CD and one for DVD.

If the burner can’t read DVDs, that will certainly confirm this suspicion.
