Problems burning using Sony DL DRU810A

I’m having issues burning a particular DVD (Robin of Sherwood DVD set). I don’t know what I’m doing wrong since I was able to burn a couple of the DVD’s in the set but the others aren’t finalizing.

I’m running into an I/O error.

Here are the programs I am using:
AnyDVD to open the DVDs then using Folder2ISO.exe to write the ISO file.
After that I use DVD Decrypter to burn the ISO onto a DVD.

I make sure to turn off AnyDVD when I am using the Decrypter software to make sure there aren’t any conflicts.

I also have the settings on Decrypter to Software Read Error Retries to 1 and Software Write Error Retries to 1. Any suggestions? Thanks.

I don’t think this is a Sony DRU-810 problem, but rather the original disc being duirty or scratched, or maybe newer encryption that DVDDecrypter can copy even with AnyDVD decrypting for it.
Don’t have the disc so I’m not sure of the encryption, check AnyDVD info screen to see if there is a lot of protection on the ‘Sherwood’ DVD …

like below…

Does anything here jump out at you that would indicate an issue? I do get a message that AnyDVD is unable to crack all CSS keys on this disc and will guess the correct key. I don’t get this message from AnyDVD when I use my PIONEER DVD-ROM DVD-120S.

Should I use the Poineer DVD-ROM when creating the copy onto my hard drive and then creating the ISO or would this make any difference?

Thanks.

No special encryption here, DVDDecrypter may be able to copy this without AnyDVD.
It may very well be that the disc is dirty, scratched, or defective.

Drive (Hardware) Region: 0 (not set!)

Here is one thing. Did you not set the drive for your Region? Open Dvd Decrypter / Tools / Drive / Regional Code / Information & post what it says there. What kind of dual layer discs are you burning to?

beef barley is correct, you must set your drive first to a region.

That would not cause the issues augie is having.
I have one drive in my system that has no region setting and it performs absolutely perfectly.

My SamSung SATA DVD-RW, Nero infotool screenshot below…

Here is the information I get from the regional code:

RPC Scheme: RPC Phasd II
Region Status: None
Vendor Resets Available: 4
User Controlled Changes Available: 5
Region(s) Supported: None

I am using Sony DVD+R DL Discs.

I still think you should set your drive to your Region. For this particular DL, as there is no serious protection, I would either use Dvd Decrypter ISO Read Mode, nothing else running in the background & burn the resulting MDS File with ImgBurn in ISO Write Mode. Or simply use ImgBurn, ISO Read Mode, again burning the MDS File in ISO Write Mode with ImgBurn.

Barley,

Thanks for the help. I will give it a try. I haven’t used ImgBurn recently and just want to verify that I’ll choose read under the mode option and create the iso file.

After that, I’ll use write iso mode and burn it onto the DVD? I just want to make sure I’m not missing anything. Thanks.

I don’t have my ripping drive set to any region, and I can rip fine, though I use DVDFab Platinum.

But it’s worth a shot.

OK, so I tried using ImgBurn without AnyDVD being used.

A copy of the DVD was made but when I try to play it the screen image is choppy along with the sound. I imagine this has to do with the CSS encryption.

I tried using AnyDVD and then read mode to create the .MDS file and then switched to write mode to write the MDS file to the DVD. I closed down AnyDVD before starting the write process.

I have gotten this error message at 67%:

I/O Error
ScsciStatus: 0x02
Interpretation: Check Condition
Interpretation: Invalid Address to Write

Any other advice? I appreciate all the previous help and any other suggestions.

dont know a whole lot about anydvd. but if you can back up some of the disc in the same set but not others then it is probably a disc problem. dont change anything just yet.

try DVDFab HD Decrypter to remove the protections. dvdfab is good at keeping their software upto date even the free version.

even give dvdfab platinum a 30 day trial, use one program instead of three.

What speed are you burning at?

What are your Sony DVD+R DL rated for?

What MID does it have?

I am burning them at 2.4x. I’m not sure how to check what the DVD’s are rated for. On the box itself it doesn’t indicate that it is for a specific type of burning.

What does MID stand for? How do I check that.

Thanks for the assistance.

Use Nero CD-DVD Speed

http://www.cdspeed2000.com/

Install this program and start it up. Place your blank disc in the drive. Click on disc info tab. This is where it will tell you what the MID is.

I am starting to agree with taking the set back for a replacement. I have had to do that with a couple of TV series Dvd sets lately, one disc was duff out of 5 or 6. I tried everything else.

The MID for the blank Sony discs is listed below:

I tried using another method to burn DVD’s and this worked (up to a point).
I’m using DVDFab HD Decrypter to copy the data, Folder2Iso to create the iso image, and then DVD Decrypter. This seems to work if I choose the “Ignore all reading errors automatically” with HD Decrypter.

I have run into another writing issue so I tried to create the DVD with Nero as opposed to DVD Decrypter. This is the error log I receive: Any suggestions? Thanks
