My problem is with the Sherlock Holmes (standard dvd) movie and not being able to backup either the full version or main movie. After the dvd has been read, I insert a Verbatim blank disc to burn the movie–it says “failed to burn, want to try again” and will not burn even if I try again and again!! I did get a Task_2 failed! Error = 105. Like some others on the forum, the problem with compressing the file does appear to be the issue. The file size I found was 5595 which dvdfab did not compress to 4300 as was shown in the main window. I have checked the dvdfab_burn_vso notepad and it shows: INIT ERROR: The inserted disc is too small. Suitable disc(s) for 5.19 Gb.: double Layer DVD+R, double Layer DVD-R 2010-03-31 17:27:45 Info Scanned files #10, folder #2 - total size 5574500352 b. (5.19 Gb.) This also seems to support that dvdfab is not compressing the file down for a single-layer disc as mentioned earlier. No matter which version of dvdfab I try, it does not work.
Since your issue is related to the Sherlock Holmes movie I’m moving your post to the proper thread here-> http://club.myce.com/f116/problem-backing-up-sherlock-holmes-310266/index4.html#post2507094 , also since your using Verbatim media I suggest you go into common settings-> “Write” and change the output size to 4474 which will reduce the amount of compression that is required.
