Problem writing DVD

Hi all,

Half a year ago, I bought myself a whopping new notebook, a HP zd7258EA. It came with a DVD+ burner, so I went all => It work perfectly, burning everything I pointed at. But a month ago, the problems came. All of a sudden, the writer didn’t want to burn any DVD+R’s … at all! I tried everything, installing all kinds of software, but nothing worked. It keeps givin’ me a “Write Error”, but none of the programs used (Nero, Roxio, Ashampoo) defined what error exactly caused the write to fail! So, as a final option, I formatted … and still my DVD+writer doesn’t work! I’ve searched all over the internet for solutions, but I can’t find any … Tried the HP-site for firmware updates, but there aren’t any …

Can anybody help me please? 'cuz I’m sad now

Thanks!

P.S. The writer is called “HL-DT-ST DVD+RW GCA-4040N” in my hardware profile … I’m using Windows XP SP1 (before format, it was SP2) …

Oh, PS: strangely, I was able to write a DVD+RW a week ago … It doesn’t make any sense to me …

Your drive is a LG Writer. You could look for LG firmwares, there’s
one for yours, but as i know it’s only for dell computers.
I don’t know really if this one would help.
Also do you tried another media brand?

I searched for the LG firmwares, as you suggested, but like you said: it’s only for Dell computers.

Anyway, this time, I saved an error-log from Nero. This is it:

Does anybody know what this means?

And the different media: I’ll try that, but I just bought 2 spindles of 50 DVD+R’s, and I could write on them before without a problem … Burned about 20-30 DVD+R’s …
