Problem With Underdog/jingle All The Way

GUY’S
I just bought some copies of underdog/ jingle all the way directors cut.
So the problem’s I am having is using the new version of dvdfab 4.1.2.0.
I keep getting reading error’s in 84 sectors of underdog when it reaches
v.o.b. 11 ,when I try to back it up. As for jingle all the way it backs up
but freezes in two sections twards the end of the back up. Do these titles
have some new protections or are they just bad disc’s.
Thanks ZAP.

Hi zap,

Sorry not much help here, don’t have either flick.
First off, I’d install the latest 4.0.2.0 Beta. Seems to be working great for just about everyone…:iagree:

I am having a problem with Underdog as well. When I try to do a Main Movie or Generic, I only see the 4:3 version of the film. Both verisons (4:3 and 16:9) are on the DVD. I have played the WS version on both a stand alone DVD player and my PC. I have upgraded to 4.0.2.0B without success with this title. Anyone able to get the 16:9 version to show up?

GUY’S,
I am sorry I did mean dvdfab 4.0.2.0,anyway on underdog full disc
mode was no dice, but main movie did work. As for JINGLE ALL THE
WAY. I had to use full disc mode to get the back up of the directors
cut but still close to the end the freezing continues. As to answer
hakras’s question that’s the problem will not back up in full disc mode.
ANYONE HAVE ANSWERS ZAP?

When you click on Main Movie, do you see both versions of the film? I only see the 4:3 version. I can play the 16:9 version on my DVD player.

I ignored the 2 read errors on VOB 11 and finished a backup to my HD. When I went to the Video_TS folder, only the 4:3 version show up. I don’t know why I can’t get the 16:9 version to show up.

I installed DVD Decryptor and DVDShrink (I didn’t have them installed anymore) and they are having trouble reading Underdog as well.

I had no problems backing up Underdog… You can still use DVD shrink with Platinum version. I have had some problems but in most cases when the process fails I try DVD shrink and it works.

sorry I thought you said DVD platinum not DVD fab

I am using Platinum. I have tried Shrink as well. Maybe it’s the disc?

must be. I had no problems backing up Underdog, Simpsons, Halloween, Stardust, or Balls of Fury…I left settings as they were. Nothing special was done…

I don’t know what’s up with UnderDog. I have backed up over 250 movies and never had an issue. I took UnderDog back and exchanged for another and am having the exact same issue. When DVD Fab Platinum analyzes the DVD, I only see the 4:3 version of the film. When playing on a DVD player, I get the option of playing FF or WS (in audio setting - WIERD). I looked at the disc with DVD Decryptor and it shows 2 movies are there, but DVD Decryptor doesn’t work when I try to rip. HELP

My kids love this movie so I want to rip it to my file server so they can watch it through my network media player. They are driving me crazy about this movie.

HAKRAS,
I think it’s the disc because disney put some kind of enhanced
menu mixed in with the disc. I don’t know if it’s extra protection or
what, because even when I use my sima which helps me back up
my dvd’s no matter what kind of protection they have when it
reaches the part to play the movie it locks up. I will try backing up
jingle all the way in movie mode only, and see if I get the regular
version or the directors cut of the film. If not then maybe FENGTAO
who’s company at dvdfab are good at figuring out the programmers
tricks can find away to overide the protection in full disc/movie mode
Good Luck to us all ZAP.

To go further, I did a full disc to local HD. From there, I opened Cyberlink and played the disc from the local drive. When I got to the Disney Fast Play junk, I went to the root menu. At the menu, I went to setup - audio options and chose the WS version. When it went to play, I got a blank black screen (nothing was playing - no counter running). If I play the FF version, everything works fine. For now, I am going to put the FF version out there. Hopefully, we’ll get another BETA version to cure this.

i to was have this problem for a day & 1/2:sad: then i tried some old tricks :Di open up dvd gold 4.0.0.0 BETA and it work:clap: i was able to back up to HD and then put on blank disk i did the full movie and all is working good no skips no drags just a good wide screen movie so if you still have this on your pc try it out old tricks works:bow:

I could certainly be wrong, but when I see multiple people having similar problems with the same movie, and they all report many rips under their belts with few problems, I have to think it may be a new protection scheme. I believe we are at the stage of the game where the easy stuff has been done and defeated. Now we are at the stage of software kung-fu, where the protection uses the strengths of specific ripping programs against them. We are getting weird navigation with multiple titles pointing to the same VOB content and such. I would expect the protection to be relatively subtle.

But hey, this is just me talking. Pure speculation, and I am nowhere near the level of some of the folks around here. Anyone done some real analysis?

had problems with underdog similar as you report.

main movie, title 27, 4:3, no widescreen. should include title 1, 16:9.

title 27, 2787 MB, decided to do full disc, jump to main title, remove pgcs.

error, tried again, error

main movie, went through, burn good.

pathplayer is always enabled with default scan options.

I had the same problem with Under Dog, wide screen version not showing up, how ever I disabled path player and both the wide screen and full frame showed up. no prob. copying wide screen with pathplayer disabled

ORLEE,
Just curious were you running dvdfab 4.0.2.0 the new version, and
did you run full disc, or movie mode only when you disabled the path
player. I also wonder if kacal was able to backup the movie in full disc
mode because, the old dvdfab 4.0.0.0. didn’t have the pathplayer.
Would appreciate the info. ZAP.

That did the trick. I disabled path player and WS magically appeared.

Backin up to avi now.

Thanks

It seems that lately any movie related to Disney has this problem. I am using the lateste release version of DVDFab & DVDShrink. If I try to do the whole movie with DVDShrink on a dual layer DVD I get an error message. If I select the WS movie only and try to burn it to a regular DVD I get the “out of memory” error that others have reported. I have two burners and it happens with both. No other movies but Disney related titles have this problem.
