first of all… hello to all…
i bought a philips dvdr1620k for about 3 months…
initially, i was using it to burn cds only… which it works fantastic… except that i was having slight problem burning multi-session cds…
so i burned one session cds instead…
then just a few weeks ago…
i decided to fully utilise my dvd burner n burn some dvd…
to my horror i realised that it always give an error when burning dvds…
i read thru help forum on the internet and tried the various method they suggested…
including reinstalling the ide drives…
dl the lastest drivers for my motherboard…
getting the lastest firmware for my dvdr…
but none of them work…
when i used nero to burn iso dvds…
nero will give an error message saying that there is an error finalising…
occasionally, nero will hang half-way without giving any error messages at all… n the dvdr will have the working lights on…
i got a new rewritable dvd n tried to use the winxp drag n burn method…
everytime i drag something into the dvd… windows give an error message…
i have alreayd wasted alot of dvds on this dvdr…
honestly i am contemplating whether to get a new one…
but i hope i can try to make it work so i can save the cash…
hope anyone would help me out here…
thanks in advance~!!

Make sure that you don’t have Sonic DLA installed. If you have both Roxio and Nero installed, make sure that you uninstall INCD. Try a different brand of DVD’s and see if anything changes.

n so far i have already tried with tdk-dvdrw n one emtec one…
but none of them work

thanks for all those who read this and is cracking their brains to find out whats wrong…
i managed to get my dvd drive working…
i found out that there was some issues with using nero burning rom with xp sp2…
when i tried burning using nero smart, the dvd drive works just find…
so i guess it is the problem oof the nero burning rom… although i am not sure what the problem is…
however, i still do not understand why when i check the properties of my blank dvd, windows will say there is no free space or used space and will only recognised it as a blank cd…
but at least i know my dvd drive is working
thanks once again
