Problem with Nero (and possibly, with IDE detection)

Hello guys,

I’m having problems with burning DVDs with my Pioneer DVR-112D, Nero 7, under Windows XP SP2. Since reinstallation of Windows, I started getting “Invalid block address” error message once the burning is started. I tried simulation option enabled, but that didn’t help.

Then I browsed the web, searching articles related to this problem, and I found that IDE detection could cause this. Primary IDE looks alright (Use DMA if available) and current tranfer more is UDMA 4 on my HDD. Looks like it was udma 5 before.

Secondary channel is also Use DMA if available, but Current transfer mode is not applicable.

Here is the log:

Is the drive running in UDMA4 mode?

Thanks for your reply.

I really don’t have any idea if primary IDE is my DVD-RW drive

Hmm, well, I have just launched Nero InfoTool to view some information about the drive. Config looks good, DMA enabled. I don’t really have an idea why I can’t burn any CDs and DVDs now with Nero. It worked like a charm before with nForce drivers installed.

http://img89.imageshack.us/my.php?image=neroinfotool.jpg

It also says that I don’t have ASPI installed on my system. I will try to apply it and see what happens next

I have installed it, but I still can’t burn any file with Nero. It says either it’s Illegal mode for this track / Illegal write state or Invalid block address.

Whenever I put CD/DVD into the drive, it shows me files, but they are corrupted
Is the drive running in UDMA4 mode?
Yes, it is running in UDMA 4.

Tried changing the drive into slave, but that doesn’t make any difference at all. I’m really confused right now, don’t know what could else be done here. What I really don’t want is to format my HDD and expect that all of my problems will disappear.

Also updated my firmware to 1.28. Could my drive be damaged somehow after i did an install of Windows XP?

Oh, I really have never thought it could burn my CDs. Thanks very much!! I will run few more burns just in case. But really, it’s strange, why Nero, CDBurnerXP couldnt just write data to disc

It also finished writing 4gb data to DVD. Really thanks for your advice!

So ImgBurn works for you?
Perhaps your virtual CD software has some negative side effects on the performance of the other burning applications?

I have just remembered that I was receiving Daemon tools error during the startup (STDP driver missing) so that might be the cause. Now I have reinstalled Daemon tools, and will have a look what affect will it take to burning with Nero
