Problem with my LG GSA-4163B Ver.A102

Hello ,
I have a problem with my LG GSA-4163B Ver.A102 wich i bought in march 2005 , i cant burn CDs . I keep getting the messages “Could not perform EndTrack” and “Invalid write state” . I dont understand what that means or why i cant burn anything . I have tried putting the newest driver A105 in and it still doesnt work . If i use my old C.D. burner everything works O.K. Has anyone got any idea of what is going wrong , and what i can do about it please . Here is what nero and CD/DVD Diagnostic says :-

You could update the firmware, I believe the latest is 1.05.:iagree: If its not that, maybe the drive had seen its day. :confused:

Actually the last firmware for 4163B is A106. You can download the region free version here: http://tdb.rpc1.org or the official version here: http://us.lgservice.com

Thanks alan1476 and zhadoom , i put the A105 driver in but it didnt change anything . I will try again with the A106 . I think its over the hill though , it seems to me that maybe it thinks that CDs are DVDs ??? Anyway if the new driver doesnt work i think i`ll go up to the 18th floor and see if i can teach it to fly !!!

I just beamed myself the file from http://tdb.rpc1.org down and it contains two .EXEs , A106AUTO.EXE and A106RPC1.EXE . Whats the difference ??? And wich one is for me please ???

A106RPC1.EXE turns the drive region free.
A106AUTO.EXE: the drive remains RPC-2 but it reset the counter of region changes after a reboot.

The most transparent is A106AUTO.exe ( in my opinion :bigsmile: ).

Can you read a pressed CD? How about a burnt CD-R? pressed DVD? burnt DVD-R? I am having similar issues with my GSA-4120B, but not only do I have the same errors as you while trying to burn, CDs that I put in rarely get recognized by the drive (no spin-up, no focusing of the lens). I opened up the drive and am suspecting that one of the servo motor coils is weak/broken, but I am not ruling out an electronic/chipset failure.

It burns DVDs . It reads everything i put in to it …but my whole computer freezes for about 30 seconds to 1 minute before i can see whats on the C.D./D.V.D. . And i have to press the button to open it three times before it opens . Im going to put it to one side and when i have time ill put it in without the other C.D./D.V.D reader and the image drive and put windows and the new driver in again and see what happens / if it works . Sometimes i think its confused and doesnt know if its my H / I or J drive . But im looking forwards to the flying lesson . Isnt it “funny” that things break / have problems just as the garantee has run out ???

I just took the C.D. burner out of my 2nd computer and put it in the 1st and burned a C.D. and it worked , so i thought id take it out and put the D.V.D burner in again and see if it worked ( Yes im a bit naiv !!! ) . It didnt…and when i put the C.D. burner back in the 1st again that wont work either . Now i`m thinking that my mainboard might be ***** and have caused all the problems .
