Hey all, I'm new to the forums, name is Jamie. I live in north carolacky outside greensboro.
I've been having a problem with my dvdrw, one day a while back it just quit reading cd's, and didnt show up in my computer anymore, I found a guide on how to fix that (deleteing a couple things in registry so the drive would show up again in my computer). Anyway I hardly ever burn cds, and yesterday i decided to burn a music cd, however, I use sonic my dvd software (i've burnt a few cds b4 i had the previous problem, and they worked fine). Its saying that it cant find any cd recording drive on my computer and it wont let me burn anything, i tried using the windows one that comes with xp, no luck, it just brings up windows media player and does nothing.
I tried updating the flash I got in the firmware section on this site, only difference that made was I could see the free space on the cd, before i couldnt. I also tried uninstalling the driver for it and restarting, still no luck. it can read cds and play them fine but wont record anything or even attempt to.
I'm using a Lite-on Cd/dvd Rw 811s
and media is cd-rw from staples, their brand, never had a problem before really with them.
Dont know if this information is needed but I have amd chip at 3.2 ghz, 2 gigs of ram, nvidia 128 mb video card, 160 gb hard drive
Also i'm using windows xp home edition.
Any information is greatly appreciated.
