Problem with hard drive connection

i am trying to connect a hard drive and western digital hd player to my set via hdmi lead.when i do so the screen goes to red hd screen but then goes black?
any ideas ....please help:doh:

it picks it up through the yellow red and white video and audio jacks but when i put the hdmi cable on screen goes black

There are some issues with certain tv sets and the WD player. It seems the problems lie in the tv sets hdmi connections, rather than the player. See here: http://wdtv.wetpaint.com/page/Video+issues
