Why don't you burn the 8X TY Fuji disks at 8X? I realize that there are a lot people who read this board who are trying to modify their burners with beta firmware and software to eek out the fastest burn times, but what good is a super fast burn if the end result is a crappy disk with marginal (or non-existent) readability?
The disks ARE rated at 8X, so anyone who gets a high quality burn over 8X is getting a bonus that they didn't pay for.
I burned some copies of my pressed DVDs that would not play properly in my stand-alone Sony DVD player. I think that I wasted a few perfectly good disks by using the beta Firmware and bitsetting from the Dangerous Brothers web site. Other readers of this board blame my Sony player; however, my Sony player plays everything else without a hiccup.
I have since flashed my drive to the firmware and bitsetting from the Mad Dog Multimedia web site. And, I limit my burns to 8X with 8X TY Fuji media. This seems to be giving me quality burns without wasting media. My copies play as well as the originals.
The last thing I want to do is spend numerous hours redoing what I already have done, so from here on out I plan on sticking with the firmware and software that the OEM and rebadge factories issue.
