Problem with DVD+ media on 111D

first of all sorry for my bad english

Sometimes my Pioneer 111D (fw. 1.29) just can’t write any dvd+ (r or rw) media
and nero infotool show me that my drive really doesn’t support this type of media

and Nero says there is no supported type of media in the drive

but after several reboots problem can dissapear, and can continue after next reboot\poweoff

but when I boot up from livecd disk with linux (for example kubuntu + k3b) or livecd with windows pe & nero - everything seems to be OK, all software shows full featured drive and dvd+ media burns fine.

I use: Windows XP SP2, Nero 6.6.1.4, mobo based on nForce4 Ultra

Welcome to CD Freaks Michael.

Do you have Alcohol 120% installed ? That can cause media recognition problems. I see that DL media is also not recognised.

Thank you.

Yes, version 1.96.4719 with SPTD 1.43. Should I uninstall Alcohol?

Try in Alcohol going to Emulation, and making sure Ignore Media Type is unchecked. You might need a reboot & then see if it’s OK.

Ignore media box was unchecked, I’m even uninstall Alcohol 120% - but nothing helps

Any other ideas?

Hey m1chael,

how exactly is that burner connected?
An extra controller? And if yes, which one?

You should update the nforce IDE drivers, and also try in SAFE MODE to check the drive info.

no extra controller, as a secondary master (as a secondary slave there is Toshiba 1412T combo drive)

Later I can try to update drivers and to check capabilities in safe mode

try in SAFE MODE to check the drive info.

No, in safe mode I got same problem. After booting to windows pe on livecd I got such log

How can I remove drive information from the windows registry? Or my only chance - to reinstall windows?

Nope, use the devicemanager to uninstall the drive & ide drivers, then restart.
Also delete the upper & lower filters, see my sig.

Thanks all for your help. I don’t know why but with nvidia drivers my pioneer doesn’t work correctly and after change them to standart IDE controller drivers problem solved a bit.

but

before there was more supported modes. Is it OK?

Yes, looks ok now.

Try to burn something.

thanks a lot, everything works just fine
