Problem With Dubbing From VHS to DVD

I have some VHS Video Movie Tapes from my own and trying to convert them to DVD format by “Dubbing Process” from my Pioneer RT 500, but as soon as dubbing starts i am getting warning that “Can Not Copy Data 254” which the explanation is a) eihter the protection device has been removed or b) the video is guarded material. Does any one knows how to overcome this problem?.

I don’t know yet, but am looking for the answer to this same question.

Has any body gotten a reply to this dubbing nightmare?

I use this product.

Use a signal enhancer. If it is a standalone combo unit, you will have to run it from another vcr, to the signal enhancer, to the recorder. There is most likely no way to bypass the internal copy protection on a stand alone. Old, worn or low quality tapes have been know to accidentally trigger the copy protection with some devices.

Here are some threads that may contain info on signal enhancers.

Search sima to find more threads (sima’s may be hard to find but it often gets mentioned so its a good search term when looking for info on other enhancers).

the solution is to have two vcr’s A and b put tape to be dubbed in a and use rca cables to b. all codac’s (copy protection’s)will be bypassed this way
IE: unit B does not know or care that the signal is coming from
another vcr ! it’s a pain but it works evertime and it’s
cheep . remember to kiss every problem (keep it simple stupid)
seams to work for me.
