Problem: SHM-165H6S and Memorex(Ritek) DVD+R DL Media

I’m getting an illegal disc error using Nero 7 right at the beginning of the burn. I’ve searched everywhere trying to find some help on this. I hope someone here can see the problem. Here is the log file:

Thanks!

Ritek S04, I would use better media (Verbatim DL!).

Also, I would make the Liteon Master.

…And uninstall the InCD portion of Nero

Congrats on your first post, bst1

Thanks for the tips guys. I’ll try some Verbatims (and making the drive pri master if necessary) and report back what happens.

Good News: Problem resolved with Verbatim media (thanks everyone!!)

Bad News: Burned discs won’t play on my Pioneer DVR-220 or my Panasonic DVD-S1 =(

Any suggestions?

Sorry, let me try to be less of a noob here.

I am trying to copy Planet Earth DVDs.

The Verbatim media I got is DVD+R DL 8.5GB. I don’t see any identifying numbers on them other than a Reorder# of 95310.

The discs play fine on my computer in the burner.

Of the three discs I burned (that’ll teach me to test after doing one next time), all of them were ripped with old DVD Shrink 3.2 with no compression.

One of them was burned directly with Nero 7. I’m fairly certain that the log scrolling by told me that booktype was automatically set to DVD.

The other 2 discs were also burned with Nero, but it was invoked by Shrink. Again, I am fairly certain I recall it telling me that booktype was automatically set to DVD.

Nero hasn’t had good performance when burning DL discs, try using ImgBurn.

Burning with ImgBurn didn’t resolve the issue. Reripping with DVD Decrypter and then burning with ImgBurn- same thing.

All burns were done at 2.4x speed. Any ideas?

Did you rerip with Dvd Decrypter in ISO Read Mode, which would have created 2 files, ISO & MDS, you would then burn the MDS File in ISO Write Mode with ImgBurn? An Alternative would be to do a Full Dvd rip with RipIt4Me in 1-Click mode, (just shut down Dvd Shrink when it’s launched at the end of the rip), place the output files in a folder you create called VIDEO_TS, then use ImgBurn in Build Mode, using this guide. BTW if you put one of these DL blanks in ImgBurn, look in the right hand window & it will give you the MID. Also make sure that your Dvd+R DL is being booktyped to DVD-Rom.

I tried the full dvd rip in Rip It 4 Me and canceled out when shrink launched as you suggested. I then burned using ImgBurn as per the guide (I had used the same guide before when trying to burn the DVD Decrypter rip). Same results.

=(

check the videohelp.com database for some info about your players.
