Problem reading Media code/Manufacturer ID

Just purchased FujiFilm 8X DVD +R media from Best Buy (Made in Japan)

My Problem is I cannot read what kind of Media it is…

  1. Does the media have to be “written” to extract the info?
  2. should I be able to use Nero’s Infotool on a DVD reader?
  3. I also ran both Infotool, DVD Identifier, and Kprobe against Blank Disk on a Plextor PX 504a with Firmware 1.02… still no MFG info on DVD+R is this a limitation of the Plex? Running WXP sp1

I will try from my Liteon 812s when I get home.

Identifiers should work on blank media, certainly works that way for me.
You cannot identify in a reader only.

As I understand it, Fujifilm - made in Japan, could be TY, an excellent choice.

Everything Worked fine from home…

Must be a problem with the Plextor at Work. Thanks for the Reader Tip :stuck_out_tongue:

And yes, that is the reason I purchased the Fujifilm… Was just impatient to verify it!
