Does your drive read other disks, both cds and dvds?

Normally I/O errors are caused by something interfering with the drive reading the disk, like dirt or scratches or copy protection. If it only happens with this one disk, then you know it is something specific to it.
You can try ISOBuster (the free version) and see if it can extract the information on the disk.

What kind of disc is exactly? Is it a video DVD or a data disc?

For a video DVD I suggest to try AnyDVD or DVDFab Decrypter.

Try ripping it with DVDFab and see how you get on.

Try ripping it with DVDFab and see how you get on.

Just to add to Wombler’s suggestion-> also make sure you go into common settings “Read” and select “Ignore all read errors automatically”

Did you set DVDFab to ignore all read errors as I suggested ? if so most likely the problematic disc has damaged and/or bad sectors :frowning:

If this DVD has no copyright protection please use either VSO inspector or nero CD/DVD speed to scan for errors/bad sectors, if it is copy protected you can install DVDFab Passkey-> http://club.myce.com/f116/dvdfab-passkey-7-0-3-6-beta-out-august-4-2010-a-314601/ …it will run in the background to bypass the protection so nero CD/DVD speed can open the disc to preform the scan
