Problem burning dvd with 112D

Hi recently got a pioneer DVR-112D burner, so to try it out i thought i back up some files onto a DVD, but i can’t seem to get pass the lead-in process before it fails, i thought it was the burner not reconising the disc so i updated the firmware to the latest one, i also checked the media list to make sure the disc im using is compatible with the burner.

The firmware i updated to is 1.21
The dvd im using is datasafe, i checked the manufactor id and its TTH02, which is on the media list.
Im using nero 7.

Can somebody tell me what im doing wrong or tell me the solution to this problem

try burning with ImgBurn. IMHO tth02 isn’t good quality dvd media. try using Verbatim or Taiyo Yuden dvd media.

Post a log here or just use better media.

Ty for the quick reply, i ordered new media so hopefully that would sort the problem

Just received my new media (Verbatim), i tried to burn something with nero thinking the problem would have been solved but, yet it still fails.

below is the error report produce, its too technicial for me, can somebody translate it into simple english plz

@ darrencftse,

Your Pioneer DVR-112D is not operating in the Ultra DMA Mode 4.

For the Pioneer to function correctly requires the use of an Ultra DMA (80-Conductor) IDE/ATA Cable (http://www.pcguide.com/ref/hdd/if/ide/confCable80-c.html) and operate in the Ultra DMA Mode 4 (http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=101616)

Nero 7.0.0.0 is hella buggy and outdated, update!

Ty for reply, i did what you suggested but im still recieving the power calibration error, i rang up the company i purchased the burner from and the technician said that the burner isn’t getting enough power and i would need a new PSU, is that a possibility i need to consider and get a new one.

I would recommend to use a PSU calculator and check your system.

is one I use and would recommend.
But to be honest I dont think its the PSU if you ask me…

@ darrencftse,

I agree with Forum Member koba and doubt that your problem is related to a PSU problem.

Using the referenced Forum posting have you fully confirmed that your Pioneer DVR-112D is operating in the Ultra DMA Mode 4 (http://club.cdfreaks.com/showthread.php?t=101616) and that your Pioneer DVR-112D is correctly connected to an Ultra DMA (80-Conductor) IDE/ATA Cable exactly as detailed in the following reference (http://www.pcguide.com/ref/hdd/if/ide/confCable80-c.html) and Master/Slave jumpers are set correctly. In many configurations the CS (Cable Select) jumper should be avoided. Also avoid using various manufacture ChipSet Drivers and only use current up to date Microsoft Operating System Drivers.

Regards,
bjkg

It also says your hd is DMA off, you will have a buffer problem.

You might also want to try & free up some System Resources. You could also try using ImgBurn, it’s free.
