Problem at layerbreak

Hi, I’m fairly new and don’t have much of a clue regarding Dual layer Dvds.

I’ve been trying to burn a few using the latest IMGBURN but seem to always get a write error at the layerbreak(I think). I think imgburn asks where you would like to break the 2 layers and I choose the one that was rated (GOOD) as that was the only optimal option compared to the rest. I’m using a Benq DW 1655 and have no problems burning normal single layer dvds though. Are there any particular settings I should be aware of regarding layerbreaks and imgburn settings, what about booktype settings for the burner? Any help would be appreciated. Here’s the log from imgburn.

Welcome to the forum

A good candidate for the problem is the disc. Too bad, only Verbatim proved to make reliable dual layer discs, whereas all other brands have a hugely variable quality from ugly to rather decent.

Try to use a Verbatim disc, this should solve

The problem is with burning to the 2nd layer, it’s not an issue with the layer break position itself.

Try again after updating the firmware on the drive.

You could also try a lens cleaner.

If all else fails, invest in a new drive that doesn’t mind burning your media - ‘RICOHJPN-D01-67’.

Thanks for the quick responses. I’ll try updating the firmware and clean the lens. If that doesn’t work I guess the media or the burner don’t like each other.

Cheers.
