I own a Microboards PF3 printer and for the first time have bought a batch of TY aqua shiled discs.
I’ve printed on other brands of “aquashield discs” which have been MBI and i’ve never had any problems. With the TYs I am finding that the image I am printing is incredibly washed out compared to when I print it to TY matt finish or an MBI glossy disc.
My media supplier says I need to adjust my print settings but even with the inklevels and density turned up it still prints dreadfully.
Is this normal.

Your problem, together with reports that HP printers are leaving roller marks on Watershields, leads me to guess that the HP ink chemistry might be incompatible with the disc print surface. Not penetrating properly? Don’t know if any refillable replacements available for those carts, but be interesting to see if non-OEM ink solves the problem.
