Benq 1640 wont scan it, Liteon likes Princo more than Benq

Comments to these Princo:

LG GH24NSC0 burn at 4x, quality very bad

Liteon ihas 324 F burn at 4x, discs not recognizeable

Liteon 18A1H show Power Calibration Error at begin of writing, disc is still blank after that

I think all 4x-burns are made with a standard/universal-write-strategy which not works.

Only newer writer which can burn a readable PRINCO seems to be the Pioneer DVR-S20

Good burn for me, but it looks like Princo don´t like higher scan-/readspeed

The SN-208 is an awful reader at higher speeds

MTK-based drives don´t like burns which made by a writer with some Renesas-chipsets

Strange spikes with the LiteOn.
With 624 B the same?

Think so. Made scans with other generations and it´s the same.

Optiarc have Renesas, it shows none of these crazy spikes.

Old problem, know it from my AD-7173A

And think atm these spikes only visible with -R

Like with other Princo-discs no high scan speeds could be used

Visible dot, maybe the reason for the PIF-cluster at 2,7GB. But still a good burn

A result you can mostly only dream of if you burn actual MCC

Princo Budget works well on SH-S182 (the only DVD-R not to be detected as blank) while BE14NU40 fails miserably.

I was also surprised, this writer isn´t that old. I guess it´s a rebadged Pioneer, even newe Pioneer-drives are the only writers who like this very old media.

All other writers I tried, especially the 24x from Samsung, Liteon and LG failed

BD-R-drives need space for BD-R-codes, so most drives don´t have old media in the FW.

BTW, what do you mean? I never seen a +R from Princo

These are just text strings.
1 MB could include 30000 MID’s.
100MB can easily be implemented.

And there should be am universal backwards compatibility mode

I did not phrase well enough.

I meant: Only PrincoBudget’s DVD-Rs and Memorex (only first session found) and most DVD+R’s are detected as non-blank.

You don´t know how the manufacturers of drives want to save costs.

I had writers with 8MB buffer, today the DVD-drives have 512kB

And not all users are ODD-Freaks like us, most ppl simply don´t need in actual DVD or BD-drives the MIDs for 1x-4x-media because those media isn´t to find in stores since more than 10 years.

I personally have low speed media because I found them on ebay

The most 8x-media will work good on actual DVD/BD-writers, and even this media is hard to find in shops. Exceptions are some RITEKG05 which is still on production, I guess

Not just buffer, but also firmware memory, which does bit require a lot of speed.

8MB buffer was in PleXtor Px-716.

and here a Princo for Pepst

Looks OK if you don´t burn more than 4GB

Transfer is OK

The disc is a bit dirty or have other visual defects, maybe the next burn would be better
