Princo DL Media?

I’ve never before heard of Princo making DL media until I saw this:

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/25-Discs-Princo-Dual-Layer-8-5GB-215min-DVD-R-4X_W0QQitemZ200233823946QQihZ010QQcategoryZ80135QQtcZphotoQQcmdZViewItem#ebayphotohosting

Does Princo make it themselves?

#2

Wow perhaps they do, it does look like a princo spindle but I could be wrong. As usual they claim it’s “A grade” lol.

#3

Yep Dual layer -R made by princo.

However these aren’t as rare as Dual Layer +R made by Princo, which do seem to exist.

#4

Well I’ll be… Has anyone here used them yet? I’d love to see some scans…

#5

Oh well, the devil is back it seems…

But only as pre-production samples for testing and certification purposes?

 Why? The quality of Princo’s DVD-R has really improved in last years and FW support is much better too.
I wonder what is the MID of Princo’s DL media, especially the +R ones.

#7

Princo has its own MID for -R DL [PRINCORDL05], but not sure about the +R DL.

#8

Hehe yeah I noticed those on eBay a while back, thanks for the heads up I had forgotten about them.

dvd-r.jpn.org (aka thia9) just published a test of Princo DL medium

#11

Not quite as bad as some of the fake Ricoh’s i’ve seen, but still…

#12

2 weeks and the data should have vanished…

Also my best guess is 2-3 weeks.

#14

Keep in mind that those results on http://dvd-r.jpn.org//thia nine’s brunch are not only caused by Princo’s quality.
Princo’s dual layer codes seem to be quite bad supported.

Exactly, TY DL DVD-R are not any better. Even a high quality medium is a pretty useless without a good fw support.
Call me a fool, but I really think that Princo’s media are of a quite high quality now. Their quality has vastly improved in the last 2-3 years.

I bought two of these, they was very cheap, so here is first result:
This one is burned with Lite-On DH20A3H, burn speed was 4x, the only speed offered.
Here is quality scan and TRT (done with LG H62N), and it is not too bad. In fact it looks better than some DVD+R DL scans

@Womi: I don’t have Pioneer or Optiarc, I will try second on LG. My friend have one Optiarc, so I will see what can I do
