Princo 2x-48x certified Blue Media - SmartBURN Limit = 40x?

Just bought some of the Princo 2x-48x certified Blue Media.

SmartBURN Limit = 40x ???

Why so ???

Princo not good quality ???

umm, I don’t recall princo ever making blue media ?!?!? All princo that I have seen is green. Possibly not real Princo? I have had the same trouble with Ritek lately, a lot of counterfeits.:frowning:

@compu44: Princo’s discs use a hybrid dye. The disc’s ATIP suggests that they use Phthalocyanine, but that’s just to optimise write performance.

Another manufacturer that uses the same type of dye is Seantram.

And also, who on Earth would want to counterfeit Ritek or Princo discs???

hey darshanjog,

yup the princo’s only burn @ 40x. can’t do much about it…

BTW darshan, have you found any good 48x media? which do u currently use…

I just went to Compusmart and picked up some Princo 2X-48X because I heard they were pretty good for the price. Thing is, on the top of the CD they say Princo Budget. Is this different from what everyone else is buying? The reason I ask is because both Nero and the Smartburn utility I use with my ltr40125S say that the max speed is 16X. With Smartburn disabled, I can burn at 40X but i get a few damaged sectors. At 16X I get perfect burns. Still I’m a little disappointed because I was expecting to be able to write at 40X with these. Anyway just wanted to know if it’s supposed to say Princo Budget or not. Thanks.

I use these for vcds cos they give me good results mine are rated at 40x

This Disc is designed for CD-RW/COMBO Drive Only.
Disc Type, Material = CD-R, Phthalocyanine
ATIP Lead-in = 97m 27s 28f
Norminal Capacity = 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f)
Disc Manufacturer maybe = Princo
SMART-BURN Speed Limit = 40X

You can select 48x in nero but if the disc is only half full you wont reach optimum speed Ive done many at speed set at 48x and no probs or errors for me. i use liteon40w overclocked to 48x with fware VS06.The ones i use are silver top, blue on burn side.

Don’t think they are fake compu44.

Look at the ATIP

Disc Type, Material = CD-R, Phthalocyanine
        ATIP Lead-in = 97m 27s 28f
   Norminal Capacity = 702.83MB (79m 59s 74f)

Disc Manufacturer maybe = Princo
SMART-BURN Speed Limit = 40X

@webcrawler

Samsung Premium with White & Silver top rated 40x can be burnt at 48x.

48x is the smart-burn limit though.

I have only come across 48x Princos which I have mentioned above but, SmartBurn sets the 40x limit for them.

The Princos I mentioned are very very cheap.

INR 10.50 per piece.

are the 40x Samsungs made by ProDisc?

wow, the pricos are cheap!! how much did u pick up?

A spindle of 25 pieces.

The Samsung 40x are manufactured by Ritek.

Hi,

I also live in mumbai.

Can you tell me where did you pick up princo from ?

you can check out my WSES scan here

The disc was burned at 40x with the Sony CRX-195E1 (ZYS5)

Indeed they are bad.

I thought so as they were very cheap.

Thanks for the info.

I’ll sell the whole spindle to someone.
