Power Calibration Error

Hello all,

I’ve been getting “Power Calibration Errors” every time I’ve attempted to burn a CD. I won’t even get half way through a burn…I can get through the “lead-in” portion of the burn, but once the burner actually tries to write the data, I get the error right away. I have two burners and I’ve been having the same issue with both.

I’ve done some searches on this forum and others to see if I could solve the problem, and while I see a variety of solutions that worked for others, none of them seem to work for me!

I’ve tried disabling the IMAPI CD BURNING COM SERVICE, I’ve tried different media (Sony, Memorex, Phillips), I’ve tried different software (Nero 6, Roxio Easy CD Creator 6, CDBurnerXP), and I’ve tried using some electronic duster to hopefully clean off the lenses a bit, but nothing has worked. I’ve done all this with both burners but no luck.

I downloaded a report from NeroInfoTool…it is pasted below. It’s very long so I’ve tried to include just the relevant information. Please let me know if I should provide anything else from the report.

Thanks in advance for any assistance! Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Chris

Hi and welcome to the forum

Most of times, power calibration errors are due to a low quality disc, because the burner is not able to write at all the disc.

The only solution is to use a quality disc. Try with a Verbatim, this should solve.

Another possibility is that your drives are too old and firmware is not able to support correctly the newly produced media. A firmware update should solve, but being the drives old, is highly probable that there is no firmware update available.

In this case, the only solution is to get a new drive :frowning:

To completely exclude the discs as cause of the problem, can you try the same discs with a different drive? You can ask a friend to run a quick test if you don’t have a more recent drive
