BTW, the burning software makes no real difference, because it is the firmware that actual write on the disc. The burning software is only a graphic interface between the user and the firmware.
To improve as much as possible results, the main thing is to use good quality discs. No drive can transform a bad disc into a good one. For DL disc, too bad, only a single brand proved to be reliable: Verbatim. All other brands are not really worth the buy
One of the main problems caused by low quality discs is that it can happen that the burning cannot be completed at all because the drive is not able to write on the disc. And often, even if the burn is completed "successfully", the disc is actually unreadable :doh:
