This drive was unusable , every disc failed half way though burning , so i pulled it from the pc , opened it up and cleaned it out , wiped the lens and put it back together , and this is the first burn from it again …
Do it look ok ?? I don’t know how to read these images … (both scanned using the iHAS524)

the only part i understand is the Quality Score , the same image burned with the same software and the PX755a is 95 , and the iHAS524 is 93 …

Look forward to your replies

Looks perfectly OK to me. Congratulations for the successful revival

Not much different from the 12x burn.

Oddly enough 6x has the highest jitter.

Supposedly this MID is only supported via AS, but despite there being no entry in the database AS did not activate. It sure looks like it needed to as the default strategy butchered this disk :Z I’m surprised the Lite-On could even complete the TRT.

Auto mode is USELESS with this drive for this MID :Z:Z:Z:Z

It seems if I want to use Mitsubishi 16x DVD-R, I have to use AS Forced mode to get any kind of useable results.

It doesn’t seem to matter what manufacturer of this MID I use, auto mode just isn’t cutting it.

Even AutoStrategy couldn’t save the inner part of this disc. A shame because the PIF after that is amazingly low.

I noticed that somewhere along the line with these Forced mode burns I managed to get an 8x entry in the AS database for MCC03RG20. I deleted it and decided to start over fresh with what presumably is the “truest” form of the MID, that made in Taiwan by CMC. With AS set to auto I did a burn. Once again AS did not activate and I got horrible results.

I did a forced burn again, and while there was marked improvement, I still see issues with the inner part of the disc. Of note, after this test there was a new entry for the MID created in the AS database for 16x speed, though I’m not sure how much good it will do.

As a point of reference, using my 760SA I burned one disc of MCC03RG20 from each spindle that I tested with the 755SA. AutoStrategy was set to Auto and the drive has no entry for the MID in the database. For completeness’ sake I scanned each disc twice, once in my LH20A1S and once in my iHBS212. The information is as follows:

  1. ZD9112-DVR-J47F4 6202E2015-05757E1A MIT

AutoStrategy was set to Auto and the drive has no entry for the MID in the database. For completeness’ sake I scanned each disc twice, once in my LH20A1S and once in my iHBS212. The disc information is as follows:

  1. ZD9112-DVR-J47F4 6202E2015-05757E1A Made in Taiwan by Prodisc

  2. ZD9011-DVR-J47C1 7135 511 -R E A 13833 Made in India by MBI

  3. ZE0648-DVR-J47C1 B1FT A01A J708120510 A31 Made in UAE by FTI

  4. ZD9912-DVR-J47F4 MAP6B5L130125622 2 Made in Taiwan by CMC

Even accounting for some anomalous scans (like the CMC disc on the A1S) the results were FAR better using the 760SA when both drives used the default firmware strategy. I find that rather odd as both drives seem to use the same strategies by default, so I’m guessing there may be a hardware issue with my 755SA.
