Hi guys,

I just join this “club”… really freaks after I read some threads/posts…

I just got my new OEM version of iHAS124 Y (bare w/o box), it comes with BLOW firmware (that was reported by Flash utility and DISC Info)…

I try to find about BLOW but never found in any references… Does anybody know about this firmware version? Is the BLON the latest firmware for iHAS124 Y?

Another thing disturb me is I could not get anything regarding the flash (ID, type, size) using Flash Utility (3.0.3)…

Same thing with Settings Utility… it does not work with my iHAS124…

Is this sometimes happened? or something wrong with my drive?

Oh, … I almost forget to mention… I currently use my drive with USB to SATA converter, and not install it directly as internal drive… could this be the reason of my problem?

Thanks,

David

Welcome to the club :flower:.

Sorry nobody noticed your post sooner:o.
Imagine you’ve found your answers if you’ve been looking around the forum :iagree:. Lite-on tools won’t work with an Optiarc drive. Might want to keep an eye on this thread http://club.cdfreaks.com/f44/liteon-ihas-124-224-324-424-24ay-300906/ for updates on adapting NEC tools for the new drives :).

I just got one of those drives in too, and it has the same firmware as yours. I’m guessing that BL0W might be the latest firmware, but it’s really hard to find much info on the drive, or the firmware.

@deanwitty: thanks for the welcome…

I see… so this type of drives still on early exploration…

@ozar: … we are in the same position then… hopefully the exploration progressing better…

I’m mostly want to make duplicate of my old audio CDs that now difficult to get (at least in my country)… thus as lowest jitter as possible is my main target…

PLDS DH-16A6S YD12 Firmware Dump

This is one of several types of SATA DVD-RW drives supplied by DELL in their Precision Workstations lately and it seems to be a LiteOn DH-20A6S (iHAS120) drive restricted to 16x writing speeds. DELL hasn’t released any firmware updates for this drive yet.

DH-16A6S_YD12_dump.rar

The firmware is dated 2008/11/19.

I also have this drive with the same firmware and haven’t been able to find any info. Does anyone have any updates? It seems to be riplocked.

Have you installed smartpack fw updater, I can only use version 1.00 on my vista 32 bit rig, so I will give you a download link for the smartpack version 1.00 - when you open it and click on update - it may update the software to version 1.16 as well as finding the latest fw for your drive.

Link: http://www.mediafire.com/file/h5yzmwtt30j/SmartPackSetup1.0.0.exe

what the heck, here is a link to version 1.16, good luck getting it to work, it does for other folks - for me it hangs…it is the latest version though, my version 1.00 doesn’t update - for some it does update, don’t ask me what is up with this;)

Link for ver. 1.16:

If you want to use MCSE to speedpatch the fw after it is downloaded, go to program files, and under smartpack program - look for the download folder - the fw files will be there.

Thanks SLOVEHEART. I’ve updated to BLOX which is the latest firmware. I got this drive as a replacement for my LH-20A1S and 've been trying to find a way to make it rip faster. I tried MCSE but even the new firmware won’t load.

Try ala42 concerning the MCSE problem - he is the ‘master’ for that situation - maybe he will beable to tell you what to do, or let yo know if the fw will be suported in the future…:iagree:

I just bought an iHAS424 and very sadly it turned out to be an Optiarc rebadge (iHAS424-32 is the actual model number).

Don’t get me wrong, the AD-724xS drives are very good and I love mine, but I’ve already got two of them and I really wanted a proper 24x LiteON not an overpriced AD-7241S! Damn you LiteON!!! :a Damn you! :a

Anyhow, the drive came with firmware ZL1W on board. Is there any way yet to dump the firmware from one of these damned things before I get rid of it?

Binflash should be able to handle the 724xS series.
