Sorry for my english (french…), I have download the firmware for the Optiarc BD-5850H 1.71, but when I try it never found my BD drive to start the update.
With Binflash software I try too, it found my drive correctly (Optiarc BD-5850H 1.00) but never want to flash with the EP000268698.exe file (option windows flasher.exe).
When I try to Dump it didn’t work but the green led stay switch on. My dvd stay lock (impossible to use) but at this moment when I retry the firmware it found my BD drive but say firmware update failed.
Finally after restart nothing change the firmware is still 1.00
Does anybody have a solution for me, because I have Bluray reading problems and I hope to slove it with the new firmware.
Thanks for your help, Jérémy[/QUOTE]
The behaviour you describe happens because of an OEM mismatch between your drive’s firmware and the firmware you’re trying to flash the drive with.
Binflash won’t help doing an OEM crossflash unfortunately. There’s nothing you can do to force an OEM crossflash.
The EP000268698.exe file is a software packager, which contains inside the Sony OEM *.exe flasher, which in turn contains the encrypted binary firmware. Binflash requires a binary firmware file, not an *.exe flasher file to work. Even if you have a binary firmware file, Binflash will still not be able to flash that firmware file to a drive which doesn’t match the OEM code of the firmware inside your drive. If the OEM codes don’t match, the drive will reject the new firmware file and flashing won’t go ahead. As I said, because the Sony Optiarc firmwares are encrypted and we don’t know how to decrypt them in order to patch them, there is no way currently to do an OEM crossflash on any Sony Optiarc BluRay drives.
