Possible to alter noise level from optical drive?

I got a Plextor PX-755A drive, i think it’s kinda loud when am playing dvd’s(movies etc…). So am wondering if it’s possible to make it less noisy while playing these kind of things? I’ve heard of Nero DriveSpeed, but it doesn’t seem to work right, keeps resetting back to “maximum”. Am on Vista Ultimate x64 with SP1, if that’s to any help.

AnyDVD has a speed control made for this very purpose, but it is an expensive solution for this particular annoyance.

AnyDVD is of course one of the very best at breaking encryption of dvds so you can copy and/or change formats of your movies…that is its main function. If you don’t need it for that, then you are wasting a lot of money just to get the speed control.

Nero DriveSpeed, available free from www.cdspeed2000.com. That SHOULD make the drive go slower, but don’t know if it will work with a plextor, seeing that I don’t own a plextor!
